FAQs

  • Determining the need for therapy depends on the child’s abilities when compared to other children of the same age. Speak Easy Speech Services uses standardized and non-standardized tests, along with parent interview to determine need for therapy.

If communication, feeding, and/or swallowing are causing stress or harm for the child or family, the child would benefit from a screen or evaluation to see if therapy is indicated.

In cases of myofunctional therapy, symptoms and case history will be utilized to determine need for intervention.

  • Therapy can be conducted in various locations, depending on the client. Speak Easy has relationships with select preschools/schools in the Napa area where services can be provided on site, during school hours.

Additionally, Speak Easy has an office space in downtown Napa where therapy can also be provided.

  • The length of sessions depend on the client. In pediatric cases, most therapy sessions last around 30 minutes

Myofunctional therapy for adults may last longer than 30 minutes, depending on client.

  • Length of therapy depends on the client’s diagnosis, home support system, and carryover. Parents are highly encouraged to be involved in therapy sessions as much as possible and complete therapist suggested activities at home to support the child and aid in carryover. The more practice that occurs in between sessions, generally the faster the new task will be established.
